Not a big fan of the way MakerWare slices .stl files for printing and also the limited choice of settings that are given so im curious to know if anybody has had any success printing on the replicator 2 through gcode files?

I've tried generating gcode files through slic3r aswell as Cura and converting it to x3g via replicatorG. The files can be read on the replicator 2 but none of them ran with success.

Just wondering if anybody knows how to do this successfully or if there is anything out there we can use?

Thanks

Limited choice of settings? Did you try making a custom profile? Proftweak is a popular GUI if you don't want to edit text files. Most knobs that most people want to turn are in there. Admittedly many people do still use other slicers.

Run the gcode generated through GPX: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:81425
Just need to drag and drop and it converts it to a proper x3g file for the Rep2.

I don't recall if the default start/end code for slic3r was compatible with Replicators, I don't believe it was.
Whpthomas also made custom profiles for slic3r that are makerbot compatible here:

Never tried Cura, but I believe you'd just need to make sure the start/end gcode is correct and then convert them with GPX the same way.
