I have excessive wire length, especially from my extruder motor, Any
way of getting a shorter cable?

What other wires can be safetly shortened?

I believe that the thermister wire length could NOT be because the
resistance would be lower.

The thermistors resistance does not change based on wire length.

The change in resistance for a thermistor with a shortened wire is negligible, but a thermocouple wire cannot be shortened without throwing the measurements off. The ToM uses a thermocouple for the extruder, not a thermistor.

I wrapped all the cables with plastic ties and everything is very nice
now :)

I'm pretty sure you can cut a thermocouple wire, you just can't splice in other wires... the thermocouple depends on the current generated at the joint (dissimilar metals) so as long as the wires are the same material throughout (diff materials for + and -, but same thru each wire) you should be fine...

That's why thermocouple connectors have pins made of the correct metal mixes, that way there's less chance of error.
