My makerware doesn't work anymore.  I didn't do anything to the computer but change a monitor.  When I turn on the computer and try to load Makerware, now a requester pops up and says

"Background Service Unavailable"  Background job management service is not available.  Please go to services restart background service.  I do that and it doesn't do anything.  I will open a ticket with makerbot, but does anyone know why this would happen and how I can get this software working again?

I did load Replicator G yesterday before I switched the monitor when I thought Makerware froze while slicing a file in skeinforge.  But I closed all those programs before I turned off the machine.  Maybe Something between these two programs is conflicting?

Its easy to fix:
Go to the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MakerBot\MakerWare
and look for a file with name: conveyord.pid
Delete it and try again.

I am very angry on MBI right now so I should not help them out, but the users here has not done anything...

The latest Makerware seems more finicky for me too. Before Damian's suggestion, I was uninstalling and reinstalling. Which is not that hard, but it's annoying. Hmm, having trouble finding that file on my Mac. Maybe it's different for OSX.

That's because it's in a different place for MacOS.
You can remove it (and conveyord.socket) with a terminal one-liner like so:
sudo rm /var/tmp/conveyord.*

Thanks Damian, that worked!  Saved me the time to open a ticket.

my makerware also stop working and I cannot re-install - installation failed
I tried to delete pid and socked file as stated by you
It is the same what Makerbot support suggested me.
But my MacOS doeas not have such files :(

I did re-installed the same version of Makerware once without problem but after that is was an update installed from Apple
Nothing else was applied to my system.

Tech support asked me to provide conveyer log and install log.
Does any one know there to find such logs?

On a pc, the log files is in the same folder that the program is.
Have you tried to uninstall it and make sure it has no left overs?

on Mac makerware seams installed as a Mac package which means in a single folder
Yes, i've tried to run makeware uninstall before trying to run install
I've checked makerware package after failed installation - no log file here

Makeware is starting but with a message - "backgound service unavailable"

There was a video/help on a problem on mac.
But I do not remember where I did see that. Maybe on youtube..
I do not have a Mac so I can not check things out, but its unix based so I can only guess that there is a driver problem somewhere.

"my problem was solved by tech support team a newer unreleased version

Yes, Damian kinda said it but let me say it more clearly so Melody
sees it.

It's a completely bad move to acknowledge there is a bug, and it was
so important that the software team ALREADY had a patch, to NOT say
something and provide that patch to other users and thus cause more
support traffic.
It's already BETA anyway, who cares if you have to release a patch. To
not release and send people to support is NOT customer friendly.

Just my 2 cents.

This works for me on OS X:

  sudo rm /var/tmp/conveyord.*
