Does anyone know where to find a misting or atomizing spray bottle that will stand up to acetone?  It'd be great if we could spray the parts rather than wipe them or use the heated crock-pot method, which is just not an option for me at this point.

Thanks in advance!

That sounds like a dangerous thing...

Valspar Frosting.  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35489  Sounds really good.  I've picked some up at Lowe's and will give it a try soon.

I tried it just yesterday! Just a quick sand 'n' spray of a test part, but very good results. The color becomes more uniform, scratches less evident. Very highly recommend.

Almost certainly better than one of the Acetone Bomb options :-)

Look for the Preval sprayers - they work great for this application:  http://www.homedepot.com/buy/preval-9-oz-complete-spray-gun-267.html#.UMY4_Xfe-Ac

Tried that already, and it made the parts look too dull.  Then tried the Valspar satin and it's better, but what I'm after in addition to the more glossy finishing characteristics are the chemical melting benefits of acetone to microcopically weld small segments of print to each other.

Por15 when I ordered it the last time had Chemically resistant sprayers for their paint remover (which I'm sure would stand up to acetone).  But I could not find it on their site.

I've never had good luck with solvents in sprayers. I'll watch this
thread.
Trying to use acetone to shiny things up only works to a point for me.
After that it starts leaving a frosty sheen of plastic on the part
that looks worse than if I had done nothing.

I haven't tried this--but how about those kitchen bottles that are made to spray vegetable oil? They seem to be made of polypropylene and metal, which ought to hold up OK.

I haven't tried this personally, but I forwarded this thread to a client who has a very demanding finish requirement for his work -- he wrote back with an ecstatic endorsement of Valspar Frosting compared to his past post-processing methods.  I'm going to have to attempt this soon.

Why not try a cheap airbrush?

I have used automotive brake-cleaner spray for this.  The only issue I have with it is that a large amount of spray is dispensed and it would ideally be more atomized.
