Can you move the z stage from the control panel? If not check the idc and stepper motor cables. Markus

Do you mean the motor stops turning and the feeding of filament stops?
A loose connection could cause that problem.
Some people have found that idler wheel was too loose and it wouldn't consistently push the filament against the drive wheel.

Check the connections like mentioned previously, or it could be the Potentiometer of the stepper driver is set too low.
It sounds like you're super close to get it going.
Fingers crossed for you,
O.
The other issue sounds like your z-axis is bad. Go into the control
panel and press the Z up button - if your bot doesn't move, your
problem is somewhere between the motherboard and the motor. If the
motor turns but the platform doesn't raise, that's indicative of
binding somewhere - the rods can't turn because there's a physical
blockage somewhere (generally in new bots this is caused by the
not-quite-straight threaded rods it comes with)
Out of curiosity, which drive gear are you using in your extruder? Is it an aluminum timing pully, or polished steel gear?
