I'm trying to convert a PCB board design from Eagle CAD to a
skeinforge-able STL. How can I do this? I want to print a resist onto
copper in abs! So, I need the positive of the circuit, such as traces
and pads.

Thank you,
-Tim

I started capturing some simple gerber2scad see script material here: http://github.com/clothbot/eda/tree/master/gerber/

I also have some ULP code here to write out schematic data into an XML format. Haven't had time to work on the layout side much.

Andrew.

What can I do with the XML files generated?

I have used a plug-in for Eagle that created a 2d image of the layout. I then imported that picture into Sketchup and 3d all the parts. I thought the plug-in was built in to the standard download of Eagle. I'll check later though for what it was called.

Thanks Nathan! Whaat do you mean by, "3d all the parts?"

I added the Z dimension to all the parts. There was no easy way in Eagle to export the layout as 3 dimensional parts.

It comes with Eagle, and is the "dxf" script under "ULP". You need to open this up with the Pro version of Sketchup.

Could I use Blender to do the same thing?

Can anyone explain how to do this in blender step by step? I haven't
really used blender at all.
Thanks,
-Tim

There is a free download for Sketchup to import .dxf files from here:
http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=161784

If you chose this route, it is easy to create the Z dimension with the
extrusion tool.

if you post the .dxf somewheres... will be easier

you could also check out roboteernat pcb milling wiki for some tips.
he uses the pcb gcode plugin for eagle. I am sure you can get it to do
what you want with some fiddling.
