We have a Replicator 5th Gen that we have connected via USB to a PC. For whatever reason, we have to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable every time the computer is rebooted before we can print. If we don't, the 'Print' button in Makerbot Desktop remains greyed out.

I have tried uninstalling everything MakerBot related and reinstalling with administrative privileges but the problem remains. Oddly enough, the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the System Tray lists 'MakerBot Replicator' on a reboot so I believe it is in fact being detected on startup, just not by MakerBot Desktop. We have had this problem on all versions of Desktop to date and are running Windows 7 64-bit.

Has anyone seen this before?

We will eventually be networking the printer which will hopefully fully resolve this issue but in the meantime it is quite annoying.

I have connecting issues once in a while even on LAN.  If I have the Gen-5 turned off for the evening and I want to print the next day, I must turn on the printer and make sure the menus are up before running the makerbot desktop software.  And sometimes that does not work, then I need to go into "system" on the software and re-start the services before it will connect.
