Ever since I downloaded the new version of the firmware for the Makerbot replicator 2 I have had trouble bringing up anything on my Makerbot desktop.  It says that the Makerbot software has stopped working, "a problem has caused the program to stop working.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution becomes available".  Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to solve it?  Thanks for the help in advance.

If you click on the icon or program file to open MakerBot Desktop and nothing happens, you may need to clear temporary files from your computer’s memory.

  1. Go to the Start Menu and search for “Disk Cleanup.”

  2. Your computer will scan your computer’s files. This may take a few minutes. When it has finished, the Disk Cleanup dialog will open.

  3. In the “Files to delete” section, make sure the only checkbox that is selected is “Temporary Files."

  4. Click OK to delete the files.

If you prefer to delete only MakerBot files, you can do that manually:

  1. Go to the Start Menu and search for “%APPDATA%”

  2. A window will open. Click on the arrow next to AppData in the navigation bar at the top of the window, and select Local.

  3. Open the folder labeled Temp.

  4. Delete any folders in this file with “Makerware” or “Conveyor” in their names.

After you clear these temporary files, your MakerBot Desktop should start normally. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
