Makerbot Replicator 5th gen screen blank

Hey everyone, I was printing with my 5th gen yesterday and suddenly after completing a print, the screen went off. The printer dial light turns on, but the screen doesn't anymore. Has anyone had a similar problem or know of a way to fix it?

Mine, same machine, recently went blue screen after the initial minute or two of system starting verbiage. At that point nothing is responsive. There is the ring light under the push dial. Makerbot seems to think that it is a total loss and wants about $500 to liven up support so this can be handled somehow. I don't know if I should do it because the machine has failed before catastrophically and they always send me a refurbished unit that fails within short order again.
