I've lost both of my grub screws for this pulley. It must have happened gradually, as I only noticed the X axis slipping recently.
I thought they were M2 grub screws, but after buying some on Amazon these were far too small.

Are these grub screws M3? Can anyone let mw know the exact spec so I can lay my hands on them?
Cheers!

I've been to a couple of different hardware stores and come up empty. They were specialist stores too, for electronics & IT.

If anyone can tell me the exact spec (e.g. M3 x 3mm grub screw) I would very much appreciate it.

Here's the problem- Makerbot has used different suppliers over the years for pulleys. Flash Forge, CTC, Wanhao, Mbot 3D, and Power Spec trade suppliers all the time.

The only way to KNOW is to take the one setscrew you have and/or the pulley to the hardware store and have them measure.

We can play the guessing game all day long. It could be metric, it could English sized as well.

In metric you tried M2, but it could be M2.5, M3, or even M4
In english 440 is common but there are just so many- who really knows.

Your best best is a Hobby Radio control shop. They carry both metric and English and would have screws you could test screwing into the pulley and then you know.

SHOULD be M3. Almost all of the hardware in the Replicator 2/2x is M3.

Length isn't too important.

Good shout looking for a BOM tramalot- Ryan, this seems to agree with your point too, as in the BOM M3 x 3mm with 0.5mm pitch are mentioned (McMaster Carr Ref: 91390A097).

You're right though Jetguy - I'll take a punt on some M3 grub screws but if that doesn't work then I'll take the pulley to some store and ask... although I'll have to put some effort thinking where to go!

Thanks all.

go to a remote controlled planes, cars etc hobby store and take it with you.

or just buy a new pulley.

To be sure before yo waste your time.  Take a known M3 bolt and test the fit.  Try one of the bolts holding the extruder feeder to the NEMA17 stepper.  Those are for sure M3 and if they fit, you will be safe to order some.
