Aaron,

I replied to your other post but I see you have a specific post for this now.  Please add us to the list or feel free to check out our upgrades on our website or our ebay pages.  I see you listed us under "unknown" but we would definitely like to be known in the community!  My name is Jay and I am usually the one posting from our account, and between Scott and myself we have developed, tested, re-engineered and re-tested the products we have, such as the ultra flat glass beds, aluminum arms and high performance nozzles.  I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have about us or our products.  Thanks for giving us a try!

Nice, Jay. I saw these upgrades, but didn't know who to put next to them.
This list was just a first draft anyway, thanks for adding to it.

Jay, can you do custom nozzles?
I know everyone wants to go small, I'm going big!
I need 0.5, 0.75, and 1 mm nozzles and possibly drilled with internal bore of 2.9mm for use with 3mm filament. Same basic m6 threads and such.

Sure, we can make custom ones.  What quantity are you thinking?  Just a couple of each for testing purposes?

And you want the lead in bore to be smaller than the filament slightly, 2.9mm?

An alternative to Bottleworks Aluminium Arms are these. These are great value at $32 if you can't afford the Bottleworks arms.

Jay, I love my p3d arms.
What did you guys do to engineer your glass build plate?

Worldburger,

Thanks for the feedback!  For the glass, we use the flattest glass we can find (which is regular glass, not tempered or borosilicate).  I guess I'm not sure exactly what you're asking (we didn't invent glass and are hardly the first ones to apply it to the Rep2) but we didn't like a lot of the solutions out there.  3/8" glass is too thick (and heavier than it needs to be) and we didn't like most of the solutions that relied on clips or needed shims on the z-axis.  We wanted truly a replacement for the stock acrylic plate, so that's why we came up with what we did.  The frame snaps onto the glass, and the whole thing snaps in and out of the Rep2 bed just like the acrylic.  This also makes it so much easier to have 2 or 3 laying around and do quick swap-outs to keep the printer running.

Just chiming in to mention that I am really happy with the glass bed and arm stiffeners I got from Jay... great stuff, and a painless transaction all around.

I have two of your products.  I have the glass build plate, I like it, it's really nice.  I also have the arms, but I didn't install them because my plastic arms are already sagging so I don't know if it's too late.

Great thread!

I'm currently awaiting arrival of this flexible build plate..

I had been having problems with getting ABS prints to stay stuck to the plate and the combination of a borosilicate glass plate with thick kapton tape solved that problem.. solved it too well and I broke a plate trying to get the print off of it

although I just noticed that makerbot appears to be selling something similar

You may be interested in BuildTak:

http://www.buildtak.eu/

I have my BuildTak sheets stuck to a 4mm glass plate. Once you've
figured the correct profile they last for dozens of ABS prints.

I had to setup a new F100 ideaPrinter. It comes with a removable Acrylic BP... IOWs I had to use another build surface. I got a 12"x7" plate of glass cut from my nearby Ace HW for $2.75, A box of clips for $2.50 of which i used 3 and 1 can of Aquanet Unscented, Super Extra Hold of which I only had to use for 2 coats; $2.79 . Total Cost was $8.04 plus sales tax... still less then $10. It works for ABS, PLA, Bridge, & PET+. Unlike overpriced buildtak, after a single layer cancel I can easily remove the single layer on the plate. Buildtak? 1 layer is a chore to remove without damaging the Buildtak. The only reason I can see someone not using a mineral plate with Aquanet and using something like Buildtak is if they can't buy Aquanet... and if that WAS the case I'd still NOT buy Buildtak, I'd use gluestick. It's about more then just stick, it's about release... release of a single layer from a cancelled print, release of a completed print, release of a large object or release of a tiny fragile object. All are valid use cases with a release requirement of which Buildtak, in my experience, can not completely satisfy. Not to mention it costs more then $10 a sheet.

Toby, one layer will stick too hard if you print too close
I print 0.2 mm away for PLA and 0.1 mm away for ABS.
Before that, the first layer would rip away from the model.

And believe me, I tried a lot of build plate combinations

Great list of upgrades!
Please add the PRINTinZ Flexible Printer plate. We have been selling them to Rep2 users and others for nearly a year and the first ones are still in use. Hundreds of hours of printing on the same plates. Available for the Rep2, Gen5 or virtually any printer.
