I just upgraded to MakerBot Desktop 3.5. Now, the background service will not start. It seems like it quits when it is attempting to locate a MakerBot on the USB port (see log file attached). I print from SD cards so the bot isn't attached to my computer. Never a problem in the past. I've opened a support case with MakerBot. Any suggestions? I'll post an update if I'm able to get it resolved just in case anyone else has the same problem.

If it's like previous incarnations of Makerware, if you're not trying to print over USB then you don't need the background services to start.  I'll go a step further.... you don't want them to start.  They're pigs.  They eat up clock cycles and resources.  If you don't need them, then don't run them.

On my Mini Mac, with maverick, I couldn't get to the "make" command without it- so once again=7 Tymes now, the mac has 2.4 as it's base. I should try a linkup with my Snow Leopard version to talk to the 2X, then un plug- of course!

If the Background Services (aka Conveyor) aren't running, you can't select your device, change settings, slice, export, or print. That's what I've got now.

Fair enough.  I may be disremembering how that works.  Haven't used MW in a very long time.

this came up a few weeks ago so a good search may be in order. but as I remember a good clean install of it fixed it. I think it was in the user/hidden folders or a srambled driver.
