I had this fall off a 5th gen MB in shipping.  Anyone know what it is?

That's the "you gotta ship it back bracket".

I wish I was joking, you wish I was joking.

In all seriousness, no matter how small the problem, that is going to be the makerbot support answer.

I definitely know your not joking.  Unfortunately I shipped this to an eBay buyer and whatever this is came loose during shipping.  I'm hoping it's something that just snaps back into place because I really don't want it coming back to me.

Probably, either the door or removable bed.

Nothing else latches that I am aware of.

Door meaning filament hatch?

Sorry for some reason I was thinking Z18 but yes, maybe the filament bay.

Again, not trying to be rude but good luck. There is zero documentation, little to no help, and certainly not an assembly or parts list.

Honestly, It looks like a latching part and I don't know what else latches on these printers.

Looks like that part might be part of a bracket which isn't supposed to
come loose. At a guess I'm thinking that could be one of the clamps
holding the XYZ frame in place - which could be bad news as the whole
machine may need re-aligning (a job for the factory).

When you shipped the unit, did you make sure the brackets holding the Z
axis up were installed? hey are orange clip-ons which wrap around the Z
rods, and prevent the Z axis from moving. If missing then rough handling
could see the Z axis smash into something it shouldn't.

Expect a claim, a defect and negative feedback thanks to Makerbot.  I wouldn't sell anything of value over $100 on eBay, you really have absolutely no seller protection.  If your buyer sends back something else and you report it to ebay, they'll say they don't cover "faulty returns" and you'll be SOL to get your money back.  You're fortunate that even the thieves won't want this machine.  (Depending on how you set up your listing, with their new policies, if the buyer files a claim, ebay will give them a return label to ship it back and charge you for the shipping.

Hey Steven,

it looks like one of the three plastic clips that holds the top cover (where the screen is) attached to the bottom part of the machine

Ask your customer to check if the top part is loose in the corners in the front of the machine. With a bit of luck it could be not noticeable.

With kind regards,

Wim.
