Hi,

I recently updated my Rep2x to firmware 7.6 and Makebot desktop 3.7 (I had not used it for a couple of month). Now, the heatbed is no longer detected by the printer; when it is about to begin the heating, an error message appears on the LCD, saying it received instructions for a heatbed but doesn't have one. It then continues to print, without using the heatbed. Now, on the LCD and in the desktop software, it is clearly stated that there is a Replicator 2X plugged in. On the other hand, the manual preheat option has no "heatbed" listed (see the attachments, sorry for the poor photos).

So I wonder if anyone has encountered the issue! I tried to use an older firmware, I tried 7.5 and 7.4, doing a factory reset every time as suggested. I have not yet tried a precedent version of makerbot desktop, and I have not touched the physical connection since my last print a couple of months ago.

Thanks,

Your bot's EEPROM has gone a little wonky and now it thinks it is a Rep 2 and not a
Rep 2X. Happens from time to time with the stock MBI firmware. You will need
to connect via MakerWare, brink up the Machine > Onboard Parameters and then
set the presence of the HBP to 1 (yes, on). You may also need to set the
extruder count to 2.

Ooops. Doing a factory reset is what makes a Rep 2X think it is a Rep 2....
MBI uses the same firmware image for both the Rep 2 and Rep 2X. Thus, the
firmware image handles both printers. When it does a factory reset, it
sets the printer to being a Rep 2 as regards having no HBP and a single extruder.
