I'm curious why you want a Cupcake for $1,000 when you can get a Flashforge for $1200?  Flashforge is a kit like the Cupcake, bigger build area and better extruders.

Note: I have two heavily modified Cupcakes and other than build size, am quite happy with them.  I've spent more than $1,000 getting them to what they are today, but it was a labor of love over the last five years and well worth the fun of learning as I upgraded!
