Sounds great, I plan on being there. Couple of quick questions:

1). Does anyone want to carpool from the Montrose/Mid-town area?

2). What supplies should we bring if we want to build our own solar
cooker?

thanks,

Paul

Paul,

I think it was you who called back for Brian Herod's phone number or email. Your voice mail had some static.  He's at 713-480-6303 and bjh...@gmail.com and 203 Emile, Houston 77020.  I hope to get by and see your remodel soon.

Jim

Hello, Paul -- and everyone

We'll be holding the Solar Cooker Work Day this Sunday, and we'll have a couple of cookers to try out (let's all hope for sunshine), as well as building two cookers from scratch. We will have the plans and material lists for both types of cookers on Sunday. One cooker, which is very portable, will be made from cardboard boxes, glass and foil, and the other will use plywood and is meant to be pretty much left in one place.
6818 Elbert St, Houston, 77028. Starts at 10, the gate will be open by 9am. Look forward to seeing you there!
Nell

Revised Plan for 10/4 Solar Cooker Work Day

Folks -
It's supposed to rain on Sunday. So we are going to change plans
slightly. We will still meet on Sunday 10/4, 10:00am. We are
changing the location to meet at Megan's house (instead of Nell's). We
will have some demonstration ovens you can take a look at, and we will
have copies of plans available for a wooden cooker. Please come by to
check out the cookers and pick up a set of plans so that you can build
your own. Nell will be on hand to offer tips from the two cookers
that she has built. I may be working on my own oven. We will
reschedule another hands-on cooker work day for later in October.
This gives you extra time to get your plans and materials together.

Directions:

905 W. 13th Street
Houston, TX 77008
(in the Heights)

From I-10: exit Shepherd / Durham. Head North on North Shepherd.
Turn right on W 13th. My house is about 3 blocks down on the left, a
little green house facing the park. Park on the street in front of
the park.

Hello, all.

The cooker kits are ready and we'll meet tomorrow at Megan's place to assemble them. Even if you didn't order a cooker, it's a good opportunity to see how to build one - and I think we'll need a few extra hands to help out! and if you have a cordless drill, charge up the battery and bring it along.
