to Make It Green Houston
Hello everyone,

Thanks for an exciting first meeting. We had about 15 people attend
and they shared and gathered information on how to make their lives
greener. We had people looking for practical skills to improve the
efficiency of their house. We had people looking for help in
presenting eco-skills to high school students. Others were looking
for out of the box ideas for housing design.

We talked about using this site to make connections and continue the
discussion.

In Feb., we'll probably meet at Nell and Dean's urban farm to help
them with one of their many sustainable living projects. Stay tuned
for more details.

Here's some inspiring links:

Hello

First Thank you Brian and Megan for your efforts, encouragement and hospitality.

The following link is a lecture on "Natural Capitalism" by Amory Lovins, of the Rocky Mountain Institute. It is long,  but compelling.  It provides effective examples of why a "Natural Capitalism' is not only possible, but why it is an economic and environmental necessity.

I would welcome other opinions or discussions on it.

Peace

KC

Hmmm! Sounds great. I will have to check it out when I get internet back the house. Anyway, wanted to let everyone know about something I stumbled onto. The Rhizome Collective out of Austin will be putting on a workshop at Sedition Books here on houston on Thursday. I'm not sure if it's an introduction to a longer and fee based course but it is free. It is challenging to put all the groups together that are here in houston, but I think we could do it Thursday. I know there are some other sustainble and simple living groups here. Lets make sure we all get there and get on the same page about what we can make happen in Houston. (this is not just a workshop for collectives it is all urban sustainablity how to's and issues) Check out the flyer at www.seditionbooks.org

This workshop looks quite good, as do the other ideas mentioned
above. Thanks for sharing, Kristen. I plan to attend.
