Hi folks, we thought you might like to know more about something
else Sheila has been up to. One of the projects she has been doing as Poet in
Residence at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine
is now complete. She has been working with small groups of children from St Johns Primary School, Stevenston, helping them
write poems in Scots. An artist also helped them illustrate their work. The
work was done in N Ayrshire Museum, using the artefacts as inspiration.
It's all in an exhibition at the Harbour Arts Centre Irvine. If you are
passing...do go in and look. Their work is fab...and they were chosen as
children who do not find reading or writing easy or enjoyable. It really is a
lovely exhibition. Beautiful bold illustrations...breengin wi colour! And
their poems are great too.
AND...that's not all. Matthew Fitt of Itchy Coo publishing liked their work so
much he asked if he could put it up on Itchy Coo website...the Educational
site. Here's the link

You’re looking for poems by P6 and P7 St Johns Primary. There are lots
of poems about the stuffed eagle in the museum...and some other artefacts too.
