MAA-BETI MELA
We had our 6th Annual Event with the team, clients and their children on 21st December, 2019. Over 250 people from various socio-economic backgrounds came together for a fun evening with a carnival-like atmosphere. 
CWC AND MAJLIS NETWORKING

MEETING - BRIDGING GAP
We organised a networking meeting in collaboration with Child Welfare Committee Suburban region on 27th November, 2019 at Beggar's Home, Chembur,  that saw an active participation of several NGO’s working across Mumbai. The objective was to identify and examine opportunities to streamline the working between the agencies involved, and enhance the performance of said agencies in terms of their respective roles and responsibilities under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The meeting allowed vibrant discussion on the hierarchy of police and procedures involved in child sexual abuse cases, that helped in understanding ways for the  effective implementation of the provisions of law.
INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY
On the occasion of “International Girl Child Day”, Majlis and Saahasee jointly organized an interactive session for adolescent girls residing in Bhiwandi on 12th October, 2019The session offered a platform for these girls to openly express their opinion on “rights” through intriguing presentations. 
ORDERS AND JUDGMENTS
ORDERS
Litigation team secured three favorable interim orders in domestic violence cases. This included an order for interim maintenance for children of Rs. 8,000/- including cost of litigation of Rs. 1,000/- an order for protection from further violence.

We also obtained a dismissal for Restitution of Conjugal Rights filed by the husband. 

Additionally,
we were allowed to proceed in two cases without waiting for the respondents to appear before the court due to extensive delay from their side. 

We also secured a final judgment in our domestic violence matters wherein the husband was directed to pay a sum of Rs. 10,000/- per month to her and Rs. 5,000/- for her children, an order of Rs. 6,000/- per month towards rent, and an order to return her jewelry which was in the husband's forceful custody with a compensation of Rs. 30,000/- .
 
JUDGMENTS
Eight judgments for convictions in sexual violence cases were obtained securing 15 years, 10 years and 5 years respectively including fine of Rs.50,000/-, Rs. 20,000/- , Rs. 15,000/- and Rs. 10,000/- respectively.   
Majlis' co-founder, Adv. Flavia Agnes, was honoured with the Anjali Mashelkar Inspirational Award 2019 in Pune for her commendable contribution for providing legal and social support to women and children.
TRAINING AND AWARENESS
We conducted several sessions with adolescent girls at Saahasee NGO, Bhiwandi on 9th October, 2019, 19th November, 2019 and 19th December, 2019. The topics discussed were early marriage, elements of marriage, and valid marriage. 

On 24th October, 2019, we conducted an awareness programme on 'Sexual Harassment at the Workplace' at Mother and Child Foundation.




On 19th November, 2019, we conducted 'Sexual Harassment at the Workplace' for the staff of Vice International School.
An awareness programme on 'Sexual Harassment at the Workplace' was conducted by Majlis at Turner, Delhi for the staff on 16th December, 2019.





Majlis organized an orientation programme for the students from Sophia College on 17th December2019. The discussion involved an introduction to Majlis, and its interventions based on the holistic approach.



Another session on Uniform Civil Code was conducted by Majlis at NMIMS College on 19th December, 2019.
PLUS COURSE
Para Legal Understanding for Social Workers (PLUS) course was conducted at Saahasee NGO, Bhiwandi on 15th October, 2019 with 20 community women to discuss various strategies and evidence collection.

A follow up session on 13th November, 2019 was conducted on Legal Rights of Muslim Women.

 
On 26th November, 2019, a visit to Family Court- Thane was organized for 15 community women to enable them to understand the law and assist victims to access justice.


Next session was conducted on 4th December, 2019 to understand the laws relating to sexual offences against women and children (POCSO Act and IPC), to overcome the misconceptions and stereotypes of sexual abuse, to understand important provisions and procedures, F.I.R and medical. 
 
MONTHLY MEETING BETWEEN MAJLIS AND CHILDLINE FOUNDATION INDIA
Rahat SV (Sexual Violence) team organized a meeting with the Childline Foundation India on 11th December, 2019. The agenda was to update case status and hold detailed discussion on challenges faced with different stakeholders in Child Sexual Abuse cases. 
APNALAYA MELA
Apnalaya NGO invited Majlis to conduct an awareness session on 9th December, 2019 as a part of a fair organized by them for their community members. Volunteers from Apnalaya and the community members were informed of the beneficial provisions of the law and the procedures involved in Child Sexual Abuse cases.
EXPRESSION
Majlis organized interactive competitions to impart awareness on the subject of "स्वातंत्र्य. FREEDOM. आजादी. What's Your Say?". The competitions were held at KES Law College (Kandivali); Government Law College (Churchgate); Usha Pravin Gandhi College (Vile Parle), and Akbar Peerboy College (Grant Road).
INTERNAL TRAININGS
An introductory session about Majlis and a training on perspective building was conducted by Flavia Ma'am on 30th October, 2019 for the new team members. She explained the objectives and aims of Majlis after knowing the views and personal experiences from the  team members. 

A follow up session to understand the strategy, documents and evidence collection for Domestic Violence cases was conducted on
31st October, 2019.
On 12th November, 2019 a training was conducted on Muslim Women Rights to know the strategies to be used in courts while dealing with Domestic Violence cases and also about Triple Talaq, Registration of Muslim Marriages, Dissolution of Muslim Marriages, Muslim Women Act, etc.

This was followed by a session on 5th December, 2019 on understanding the procedures in Domestic Violence cases.
