The Shroudbreaker is the first of many Tall Tales in the Shore of Gold questline. Here you'll find all you need to know about the Totem Chest, the Medallion locations, and everything else you'll come across in Sea of Thieve's Shroudbreaker
So, you want to sale the sea of thieves and become the pirate of legends, aye? That begins with reaching the coveted Shores of Gold but alas, that's not as easy as it sounds. The first step is acquiring a relic that allows you to do that and that begins with the Shroudbreaker. Savvy?
This is the first of nine tall tales and as such, is the easiest to begin. Load up an adventure with your finest crew and ship and, like any good pirate adventure, begin in the local pub. Find ye nearest stranger (the odd pirate with the, err, glowing green eyes...spooky) and look to the right of them. You'll find a book that tells of the Shroudbreaker.
Press X to vote for this tall tale and the mysterious stranger will start talking to you. He'll speak of the Shore of Gold, an ancient island riddles with traps, deadly enemies, a devilish shroud, but of course....plenty o' gold. In order to sail through the Devil's Shroud and follow the steps of the greatest pirate who ever lived, you must first find the Shroudbreaker.
Now that you've acquired that book, matey, open the item wheel, press A to move to quests, and select the book. Read the entire story by pressing the left and right d-pad buttons, if you'd like, but it's this page below that matters most for our purposes:
Like the captain's journal told us, Magpie's Wing ship log can be found in between Crook's Hollow, which is located in quadrant M16 on your map, and Crooked Masts, which is located in quadrant O11 on your map. Sail that way and keep an eye out once you reach quadrant N13 on your map. It's here that an uncharted isle lies waiting for you.
This is where the Captain's Quarters are located and naturally, it's where you'll find the Magpie's Wing ship log. Look for the large captain's chair and you'll find the log sitting right on top of it.
If your final page has a line of people on top, then it's solution 1. The number of people corresponds to the number of people that must be showing across all four rotatable pillars in here. Rotate them until X number of followers are showing across all four (it can be any combination to reach the number on the page).
If your page features a shroudbreaker symbol and some symbols of people after it at the top, you have solution 2. You must rotate all four pillars in this room to match that line so if it's three people followed by the shroudbreaker symbol, the first three pillars need to be rotated to people and the fourth to the shroudbreaker.
The medallions are randomly scattered around the island you're on, but don't fret matey as there's a shiny (we love shiny) new map on the altar to help you locate the first medallion. Okay, it's less of a map and more of a direct image, but it makes no difference, savvy?
