While djay supports any audio interface, mixer, and MIDI controller that is supported on the respective platform, the following DVS-compatible mixers have been pre-mapped and can be used plug-and-p...
I have Traktor on MacBook, single USB cable into a basic USB hub, then into the Xone 96 to use it as sound card and take tracks out directly. Also plugged into the MacBook currently is the Digitakt. Used the Overbridge app to get the audio to also come through a channel on the mixer, all over USB.
USB Hub maybe not upto the task? There is a DIN MIDI out on the Xone96, so I could use that and regular audio cables to get the audio into the mixer - but would ideally like something with minimal cables to sort.
Hey man! awesome stuff. I have a technical question. I also have the midiclock from from erm and I would like to play a back2back with my buddy (he is using traktor 3 and im using ableton). I can get ableton to receive the midi clock signal no problem, but we had a lot of trouble setting up traktor 3 to receive the midi signal from the erm midi click on his laptop. What settings do you have to set to get traktor to slave to the midi clock correctly? does your traktor also react to transport control signal from the midi clock just like ableton does? thanks a lot man!
Hello, sorry for my bad English. May I ask what your connection is, between ERM Clock and Traktor. I also have the problem with the typist. Everything runs great for a certain time and then suddenly no longer.
Thank you. I have problems with the DT. Runs 2h great, then from one to the other sec asynchrones. Traktor sends the clock via usb to the ERM - midi cable to Digitakt/syntakt/Modular. I will try your way. Thank you
After you find that you have enough space to fit the Serato or Traktor box, you must also make sure that you have enough space on the rear panel of the mixer to drill a total of six-holes. *Note: when drilling through metal make sure you drill in small to larger size increments until you get to the intended hole size or your metal will bend and bulge. The first four holes which are 3/8-inch each. This is where the four new Gold RCA coupler Traktor inputs will reside. The RCA couplers can be purchased on ebay or at any wall-mount RCA electronics supplier. You will need two red and two white couplers to account for both timecode decks. The next hole is about 1/2-inch which is for the internal USB-Mount port. This is basically an extension cable that runs from the Soundcard USB port to the rear of the mixer to provide your mixer with the USB B port. The sixth hole is so the RCA output cables of the soundcard can pass through the mixer cabinet and into the Line level inputs of the mixer.
Next, run the straight RCA cables from the DJ soundcard inputs to these new coupler inputs that are now on the outside of your mixer. Next, connect the other two RCA angled cables to the output RCA connectors of the soundcard and drill the hole that will allow them to pass through to the outside of the rear panel so that the angled-sides can connect to the Line inputs of the channels on the mixer (see the video and pic). The only thing left to do is drill a 1/2-inch hole for the USB connection and plug the USB cable into the soundcard while mounting the other side of the USB mout cable to the inside rear of the mixer. After you connect everything back together, you should be all-set and ready to enjoy your DVS enabled mixer!
Now you can plug your Timecode decks into the appropriate new Traktor Ports and connect the USB cable from the mixer to the computer and enjoy the DVS playback advantages in an easy-to-setup and compact package.
This may be a little confusing to some, but if you understand your DVS soundcard, then you can probably understand how to do this. If you do have any questions regarding this or any other of my DIY videos, then email me anytime at

From what ive read on here i need a pre amp sound card and many have said get the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 2in-4out i can get this for 135. Then i need to spend 30-40 on 2 timecode vinyl. Mixxx is obviously free so this setup will cost 170.
Option 1.
I can buy 2 cheap External Virtual USB 3D 5.1 Channels Stereo Sound Card Audio Adaptor Converter from ebay (one for each deck) for 4.
2 rca female to 3.5mm male Y leads (one for each deck) to get the decks into the sound cards for 2
2 rca male to 3.5mm male Y leads to go from the sound cards to the mixer for 2
Buy 2 serato control vinyl for 25
use Mixxx software 0
Option 3
Buy Native Instruments Traktor Scratch A6 Digital Vinyl System Timecode Software NI, and this has everything i need like software, timecode control vinyl, sound card and leads for 200
No need to use mix software as i can use traktor software.
The cheapest 2 phono pre amp on the hardware link you provided is the Native Instruments Traktor Scratch A6. So as option 2 might sound bad am i right in thinking its either the cheap option 1 or the dennon for 230 and there isnt really any good options inbetween?
Ive been looking on ebay and was wondering if i could pick up a SL1 sooundcard for for under 100. Is the SL1 high enough quality and a good cost effective way to get a good soundcard for about 1/2 the price of The Dennon DS1. Or would i be better off just buying the DS1 brand new for double?
This is, first and foremost, a plea for the pleasures of back-to-back DJing and mixing (for podcasts and the like) the same way. The controller, being the S8 but also any related hardware, plays a supporting role, not the other way round.
I finally convinced my techno-making musical partner Nerk to lug the S8 out of the offices of Native Instruments where the company has been hyping the thing up, and into our studio. The idea: take a break from production and mix together some of the sort of music we love and want to hear more of. You can listen to that at the end.
Mixing and hybrid sets. First, the S8 in particular (even more so than some of its bigger cousins) is an exceptionally flexible mixer. I have to confess to some surprise here. NI could have easily cut corners or left the mixer out altogether. Instead, you get a mixer with more-than-acceptable audio performance and an absurd amount of I/O.
We go back to some old ones from Nerk (veteran of Toktok and including his collaboration with Dirk Leyers on Kompakt), as well as some new and recent favorites including from friends like Bill Youngman, Dasha Rush, and Aurora Halal.
hi, ive just recentley purchaced traktor pro and am using a hercules rmx, i would like to know if anyone could help me out setting up traktor as i have absolutley no idea how..i have had a go but my hercules wont corrospond properly with traktor, for instance when i move my crossfader it runs through my track selection in traktor, basically nothing works only that..
- Click on Updates and downloads
- In the Download section, select "Sound Cards" as product genre > "DJ Controller" as product family > "DJ Console Rmx" as product > "Software" as link and download Traktor Pro profile ( _DJ_Rmx.zip)
- Unzip the TSI file on your hard disk, and load it in Traktor Pro.
Thanx for getting back to me Maxdjack and have gone through what you mentioned and thanx alot, i have noticed now after using the tsi file that most of my functions are working but my treble, mids and bass and my crossfader is not doing anything. Also i don't understand why i have to use all 1 and 2 - 3 and 4 outputs...Is it not possible to just use say 3 and 4 like in virtual dj pro..I have also noticed that my headphones are not working along with my cue buttons..
Step #5 of the Software Setup shows a picture of the Output Mapping. You can set your outputs there. Also, make sure Mixing Mode is set to Internal if you want to use just one output pair. As I said, I believe this will also enable EQ.
Also, if you have headphones that use an adpater, use one adapter and move it between outputs. I found that my headphones weren't working once because an adpater was left in the front location (or maybe vice versa).
Hiya again maxdjack and argyx thanx for everything, all is working wicked now and am enjoying what traktor has to offer..A question for you if you don't mind and that is when i sometimes load a track the bpm goes to say 66.000 and my other is 127.000, do you know why this is happening, i can't seem to change it to the 120-130 bpm mark and to keep all my tracks around that bpm..Hope you can help as this really annoys me..
