Today is my first day on the MV Diet Detox. Do you eat the homemade
cleansing soup everyday for the 21 days? Also what is a good herbal
tea at the store to buy?

Hi and welcome to your 1st Day!
Your on a journey that requires "commitment" to DETOXing first of all.
Commit yourself to following the book as closely as can, ignoring your
cravings!!! and you will be very pleased with the results and even
prouder of yourself.

I finished 21 days about 2 weeks ago, and I still feel better than
before, food tastes better than it ever did!

So, to answer your question, yes, eat the homemade cleansing soup
every day for dinner. I added extra water to stretch the broth to
ease my hunger pains the next day. The broth is the saving grace, as
it is loaded with minerals and your body thanks you.

Be choosy about what Herbal teas you put the money out towards.

Detox Teas are to be a vital part of a DETOX Diet! : Choose these for
maximum chemical detox and cleansing of organs:

Alvita Brand: Peppermint, Licorice and Milk Thistle teas, because they
are cleansers of the kidneys and liver. I put a peppermint bag into
any of the blander teas to make them come alive:
Best prices on Alvita teas are found at www.vitacost.com - dollars
less per box than local health food stores.

Marshmallow Root - because it is required for the gall bladder
cleanse. (Difficult to find - I called to find a local herbal store
that sells it loose. Really great because you can control how much of
it you want to purchase.)

For the BEST tasting and calming: Aveda Comfort Tea. Expensive, but
worth every cent! You can get it at most Aveda makeup counters, but
here's their link: http://www.aveda.com/templates/products2/mpp.tmpl?ngextredir=1&CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY10701

Good Luck!

IIona thank you so much for your tips. I am on day 4 and its been
really hard, I feel light-headed and the coffee enema didn't give the
results that you described. I feel hungry a lot of the time, and I
just think that the portions of soup are not enough. I will take into
consideration all of your tips, and I will try to make it to day 21.

Thanks,
Laura

Hello all -

I am new member, I plan to start my journey on Thurs. So, I headed to
GNC and bought Veggie Splash, Berry Antioxidant, Teas, and Aloe vera
Juice. I do not have juicer, but will make the veggie soup each night
use the broth and blend the veggies for the soup. I am very excited. I
feel as though I am missing something.

Becuase I do not have a juicer, my 8:30 and my 10:30 & 2:30 will be a
high density green drink (veggie splash) Has anyone else taken that
road - I just can't afford the juicer right now - BUT, have bought
good organic veggies for my soup. The dygestive enzymes are included
in the green drink. I have begun an herbal cleanser and will continue
as prescribed in the protocal.

Any other experienced recommendations???? I was so pleased to read
about both your support and success.

I truely want the weight loss, but more at 48 years old,I feel older
than I should, with face wrinkles, fatigue, weak nails and hair, joint
pain - I think I will truely benefit from this - and the weigh lost
will be the estra benefit - SO BRING IT ON!

I appreciate any feedback or comments - Lori (AKA CleanMachine)

Laura and Toya and Lori and others, ...

(To recap, I'm 46, 5'11" and 152 pounds. I lost 10 pounds on the diet
which ended 2 weeks ago.) I, too, was starving on the cleanse until
around day 10. Okay, I know how it is when you first go on this
diet, you are starving for food, starving for information, and
starving to hear about others' experiences, and want to know if you're
doing it "right". I'll be as detailed as I can!

I added one ripe avocado per day, but then my weight loss stopped and
I didn't lose another pound. Note, most people yelled at me for even
going on a 21 pound diet, as they already thought I was thin and
shapely, so don't go by my limited weight loss! My body didn't want
to give it up, because it didn't have any excess!!! LOL!! Oh to be
so lucky, I know .. But, remember the grass is not always greener...
Each one of us has our own cross to bear with our own unique set of
problems. I needed to detox toxins, because I'm severely heavy metal
poisoned and exhausted all the time. I know the importance of E.F.A's
(essential fatty acids for my body and brain, and so that was more
important). I have continued to keep my meager ten pound loss off,
and that means a lot! Hurrah!

One BIG mistake that my boyfriend made while he was on the detox with
me, was that he would not stick to his schedule, and often went all
day without drinking, doing the veggie powders, juicing, etc. He did
not do well. He was weak, has not recovered as well, even though he
did eventually add protein shakes around day 12. He lost some weight,
but not much, probably because his body went into starvation mode and
held on to every pound because it never knew when it was getting its
next meal!!! Every 2 hours, you MUST put something into your body,
whether a powder drink, tea, broth, juice, puree -- I think that is
THE most important concept to get. Even water would be better than
nothing, so that it can make the toxins flow out. You do NOT want
your blood sugar to drop, creating insulin problems. (Especially since
so many of us are pre-diabetic and don't know it.)

However, I must add that I was NOT exercising 30 minutes every day,
and I thoroughly recommend the exercise in order to feel better, sleep
better and lose the appropriate pound per day. The worse you feel,
the MORE you need to exercise. The more you exercise, the more you
sweat which is great! - because toxins comes out in your sweat. Bathe
soon thereafter so you do not re-absorb the sweat toxins. So, then,
the MORE you need to soak in epsom salts/baking soda to pull the
toxins out after you sweat.. for the best results! Toxins really
come out of our skin when we soak in epsoms. "Many people on a
typical 'modern' processed diet are very deficient in magnesium as
well, which Epsom salts also supply in a highly available form. Main
effects of insufficient magnesium are hyperness, irritability,
anxiety, and muscle twitching or spasms. So the salts may provide two-
way assistance." See http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm for in
depth applications of epsom salts and digestive enzymes.

One thing, unfortunately, is that soaking in fluoridated water is NOT
good -- fluoride leaches even more lead out of your pipes if you have
an old house (older than 1960's), and combined with chlorinated water,
the noxious gases have a negative effect. This may be why some people
feel kind of faint after soaking. I'm in the process of choosing a
whole house water filter, because I do not want any more fluoride,
chlorine or heavy metals to be absorbed. I highly recommend reading:
"The Fluoride Deception" http://www.mercola.com/2004/jun/12/fluoride_deception.htm
www.mercola.com is a great site that will send you daily/weekly
updates to avoiding toxins in our midst. Don't let this get you
down, however, You do what you can, until you can do better to avoid
toxins, as you learn about them.

Saunas will also help weight loss, especially if you can do them more
than once per week. Check around for drop-in fees to local YMCA/
YWCA's and health clubs.

I also felt light-headed, especially during middle of the night trips
to the bathrooms and in the morning - fell into the wall a couple of
times. Unsure of the answer there. I know that I was missing
something that was giving others the extra energy. I was adding the
Bragg's aminos and seaweed to the soups. Protein shakes didn't seem
to change anything, as I tried that near the end as well. If anyone
can figure out what stops the lightheadedness, that would be a help,
because that is what stopped me from exercising, as I feared I might
fall over! I drank plenty, often a few glasses of water more than
was recommended, because I was thirsty, so it wasn't from dehydration.

With the coffee enema, I held it in like 20 minutes or more. And I
think that is why I got such a positive feeling from the caffeine.
Plus, I do have issues with brain chemicals being out of the right
ratio, so my reaction may have been greater than someone whose
chemicals are stable. Each one of us is different. You may feel more
of a difference with the kidney or gallbladder cleanses. Please share
if and when you do them!

But again, on the starving issue. I had severe cravings for all kinds
of junk foods that I would never even eat before; I noticed so many
commercials for fast food on TV that I never noticed before. It was
driving me crazy, cuz I normally didn't crave those foods. Then
around day 7 or 8, those weird cravings stopped, and at day 9 or 10 my
appetite stabilized, and I felt like I could live on just the veggie
drinks, juices, and pureed soups. I HAD to have the broth to drink
throughout the afternoons, however, or I wouldn't have lasted.

Sometimes I boiled the leftover juicer scraps, so that I would have
more free broth to drink. My pureed soups were always made with
seaweed in them, for extra natural sea salts, minerals and nutrition,
which added flavor as well.

One thing I would do differently next time, is that I would NOT use
the "recommended" Essential Greens veggie\berry drinks - whatever is
in this powder has a high anti-oxidant ORAC value, HOWEVER!!!, it has
nearly ZERO vitamins and nutrients and only lists SUGAR and calorie
content on its content label. Look at your labels and tell me what you
think!! If it had any vitamins and nutrients, you better believe
they would want to list that so people would buy it. Very very
strange and I think, problematic.

I would buy Natures Benefit, Holt MD, Berries & Greens,
http://www.naturesbenefit.com/berries_greens_plus.cfm which is
absolutely loaded with over 100 nutrient rich greens, herbs, and sea
products, loaded with vitamins and minerals and tastes wonderful.
Spirutein also provides highly nutritious drinks with tons of
choices. You pay more but are getting so much more for your money.
The other stuff is just sugar water, which really concerns me. To be
safe, the best thing would be to consume more natural squeezed juices
and boil the remains for more mineral-rich broths, however, I realize
that is a time problem for most.

I know it is very hard that first week making the transition with all
the media commercials for food and everyone eating around you, but if
you at least try to make it Day 10-11 and see if the hunger pangs
stop, and then re-evaluate how you feel. If you feel better and well-
adjusted, continue. If you feel horrible, stop and start again a
couple of months from now. You can be proud either way of what you
have completed. The first time I did this cleanse was back in
September and I could only last 8 days, so do not feel bad if you
can't make it all the way the first time. You can always try it again
months from now.

Some people choose bad times to start (like during an illness), or
inconvenient things happen when they start (family problems, work
problems, sickness like a virus in the family, etc.) that could not be
prevented or avoided, and sometimes, we have to take those things
into consideration rather than working ourselves too hard with the
detox if that happens. I don't think it would be good to continue
with a serious detox like this if stressful life events come up. It
is stressful enough on the organs to release toxins that get
recirculated into the blood stream and re-processed. I think it is
better to be positive and reschedule for another time, if it gets too
hard, rather than pushing oneself into the ground.

Remember, this is a NEW way of living. Look at it this way: It is
recommended to detox 21 days per year, or 3 - 7 day periods, or 7 - 3
day periods, so.... don't put too much pressure on yourselves to
compete with others who have completed it. It is supposed to be a
"healthy" thing that you are doing for YOU! So give it your best
try, and if you don't succeed this time, try, try again later!!
There, did that take a little pressure off, and make it seem just a
"little" easier?!!

Hi,
I finished the detox on sunday. I lost 24 pounds in 21 days and had
alot of health benefits. I would like to congratulate you on starting.
Good Luck. Also, there is another group on google called 21 pounds 21
days. Alot of people are starting now. I found it a good place to get
support while going through the process. Alot of times someone will
post something that is exactly what you are going through. It was very
encouraging and helped me through the rough patches. If you get a
chance check it out.
Happy Detoxing,
Denise

Denise, thank you for the kind words and support. CONGRATULATIONS!
Good job. I will try that web site. Today was a bit rough and I have a
splitting headache. I just finished my soup, so I hope that helps a bit.
I am confident when I jump on the scale tomorrow morning, I will feel
encouraged for another day. Thank you for the tip on the web site - Lori
