For all mainland students (Visa extenstion)

Dear all mainland students,
Regarding the extension of your student visa for your study in 2008-09, please note for the following:
1. Mainland students coming to HKU to study for more than one year will have to renew their student visas annually. Students are required to submit their application for visa extension to the Extension Section of Hong Kong Immigration Department (香港入境事務處) and the China Travel Agency (中國旅行社) at least one month before the expiry of their current student visa.
2. Before going to the Hong Kong Immigration Department and China Travel Agency, you are required to
complete and submit the following documents to China Affairs Office on or before 28 April 2008:
l "Application form for extension of student visa-mainland students" (see attached) ;
l "Extension of Stay" application form ID 91 (see attached or download from the link: http://www.immd.gov.hk/zhtml/id91.htm) ;
l "Request for early extension of stay要求提早辦理延期逗留申請聲明書" (see attached);
l Copy of your HK Identity Card (front face only);
l Copy of the biodata page of your 往來港澳通行証 (i.e. the page showing their photo and personal particulars);
l Copy of the page of your往來港澳通行証showing the visa label;
l Copy of the page of your 往來港澳通行証 showing the latest landing endorsement (i.e. the page with the immigration stamp stating that they are permitted to remain in Hong Kong as a student until dd-mm-yyyy).
* Remember to provide contact phone number in the form ID 91
* Please refer to the attached for the samples of a completed延期逗留期限申請聲明書 and specimens of
the required pages of 往來港澳通行証
3. Please make copies on both sides of A4 paper and compile your documents in the above-mentioned order. Submit your forms and documents by putting into the collection box at the counter on 9/F Knowles Building from Mon-Fri 0900-1300 and 1400-1730 in the period of 17-28 April 2008.
4. Any late submission will NOT be accepted and students will have to submit your application to the Hong Kong Immigration Department directly.
5. You are required to approach the Quality Migrants and Mainland Residents Section (優秀人才及內地居民組), which is located on 9/F of the Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, to collect your extension of stay labels in person on the following dates:
13 May 2008(Tue) -Reserved for students with surname starting with alphabet A to Q
14 May 2008(Wed)-Reserved for students with surname starting with alphabet R to Z
You are required to bring along your original 往來港澳通行証. Those who do not adhere to the above-
mentioned scheduled dates may not be able to collect their extension of stay labels.
6. The China Affairs Office is not responsible for any delay/ cancellation/ failure in the student's application for the extension of a student visa.
