I understand it inexorably translates ISO8859-1 (not UTF-8) to
IBM-037 (not 1047).

What about HLASM Toolkit? Structured Programming Macros ought to
Just work. OS-dependent facilities such as SuperC are more a problem.

What do hardware operations such was Branch and Set Mode do on Linux?

Ah, IBM, we do so love you.  If it was difficult to write, it should be difficult to buy, right?

This, in the z/tpf docs, might provide a clue:
o  For standard processors, order the IBM® High Level Assembler for Linux for IBM Z Feature (5950) of IBM High Level Assembler for z/OS®, z/VM®, and z/VSE® (5696-234), Release 6 or later release.o For Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) processors, order IBM High Level Assembler for Linux to support z/TPF PRPQ (5799-TCQ), Release 5 or later release. See your IBM service representative for information about how to order this product.
It's been a while since I used it but I seem to recall the need for codepage translation in the build process.  There's an app for that.

Gil,

When you say "not Linux", which list would that be? I'm subscribed to MVS-OE but that list is very low traffic (last message I received there was from May 2021).

Is there a separate z/Linux list somewhere?

Peter
