Dear Friends,

As you may have read in the papers, the movement for a citizen recall process in Maine is getting a lot of attention. Newspapers across the state have covered the story as well as MPBN, NPR and the Rachel Maddow Show.

Now if only the Republicans in the Maine House of Representatives would listen! Some of you heard that the Speaker of the House said we missed a deadline for submitting bills, or that a Joint Order directing a legislative committee to report out a bill is "unconventional." The truth is that there is no deadline for submitting Joint Orders and we deal with them all the time in the Maine Legislature. More importantly, if the Speaker of the House and Republican leadership don't want a citizen recall process, they can vote against the order. Instead, they "tabled" the order to avoid going on the record with a yes or no vote.

Contact your representative today.  Tell them, "You are either with the people, or not. Please do your job and take the Joint Order regarding a Citizens' Recall Process off the table and vote!"

What you may not have heard is that the Republican Party sent an internal email this weekend attacking our petition and questioning our motives--even though in less than a week almost 15,000 Mainers have added their names to our petition--more than 1% of the entire population of the state.

Well, you know what I say? If they won't listen to 15,000 of us, how about 20,000? Or 30,000?

We can make this one of the biggest petitions ever delivered to the Maine state legislature--but we need to keep working. All it takes is for each of you who have already signed to get one other person to sign. Can you do it?

Email the petition to your friends and relatives. Send it to any listserves you're a member of. Keep sharing it on Facebook. Here again is the link:
