Housing Replacement Rally
Friday, April 1st at 4:00
Congress Square
(corner of Congress and High Streets)
In the past 5 years, over 100 AFFORDABLE RENTAL UNITS have been eliminated in downtown Portland,
and despite the HOUSING REPLACEMENT ORDINANCE,have not been replaced,
directly resulting in HOMELESSNESS for too many neighbors.
Please join us in highlighting our concern for the 54 rental apartments
at the Eastland Park Hotel that will transition to hotel rooms without replacement.
Please print and post attached posters.

Preble Street Homeless Voices for Justice (HVJ) is a grassroots group that works for social change on behalf of people who struggle with homelessness and poverty. HVJ is led by a board of people who have all experienced homelessness and is supported by Preble Street staff. The founding chapter in Portland has existed for over fifteen years, with other chapters in Augusta, Brunswick and Lewiston. Our goal is to build a coalition for and of homeless people throughout Maine, and to empower people whose first-hand perspective has often been absent in the development of policies and programs that impact their social and economic well being.
