BY THE NUMBERS & THE PEOPLE THEY IMPACT:
Republicans in Congress have proposed:
$100 billion in federal budget cuts starting March 4.
If applied across the board to HUD, this could mean:
- 2,500 Section 8 Voucher tenants cut off in Maine,
- 1,300 Project Based Section 8 tenants cut off in Maine,
- $5 million in cuts to Public Housing in Maine,
- $4 million in cuts to CDBG to Maine Cities, and
- decimation of Homeless Programs.
Multifamily, public housing, and voucher tenants and their supporters will gather at Canal Plaza in Portland to deliver a Valentine’s Day message to our federal elected officials to protect tenants from harmful spending cuts.
WE DEMAND HUD & CONGRESS:
Fully fund & do not cut:
Section 8, Public Housing, & other HUD Programs!
Protect tenants:
in buildings with expiring HUD mortgages!
