CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS TODAY!!!

Last Friday Advocates from the MEHRA and its allies from the Drug Policy Alliance and the Maine ACLU were at the State House working steadfastly to build bipartisan support for LD1686, the overdose death prevention bill. Now, we need you... This important piece of public health legislation is expected to come up for a vote AT ANY MOMENT!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO WIN A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY!!!

Find your legislators contact information by clicking here: http://www.maine.gov/legis/house/townlist.htm

Call or email them TODAY and urge them to support LD1686 and the Majority Report. which would make sure that naloxone was in the right place at the right time in order to save lives.

Tell them:
"With an average of 170 drug overdose deaths per year, Maine cannot afford NOT to do something about this public health crisis. Naloxone is proven safe and effective at temporarily reversing an opioid overdose long enough for the victim to seek medical services. But to truly impact this issue we need to put this life-saving medication into the hands of friends and loved ones of those at risk as well as first responders. Only then can we make sure that this medication is in the right place at the right time to save hundreds of lives. Concerns over adverse effects are exaggerated, and given the chance any family-member would choose an adverse reaction over the loss of their son, daughter or other loved one. Please support LD 1686 the drug overdose prevention bill and the majority report."

Once you've made contact, call or email me here and let me know how it went!

Thank you all for your dedication to the cause.
