This morning the Maine House of Representatives voted 147 to 0 in support of an amended Overdose Prevention Bill that would allow for first responders, family and persons at risk of a drug overdose to possess and administer naloxone.

We owe this success to you. To all of your calls, all of your emails, all of the conversations you've had with friends and family about this issue.

But the fight isn't over yet. The Senate is expected to take up LD 1686 TOMORROW, and the Governor has indicated that he will veto the bill if it reaches his desk. We need to show Governor LePage that this is NOT something to play political games over. Maine's families and first responders need naloxone, and they need it now.

CALL YOUR SENATORS TODAY TO SAVE HUNDREDS OF LIVES OVER THE NEXT DECADE...

To look up your Senators information go here... http://www.maine.gov/legis/house/townlist.htm

Call today and tell them...
"With an average of 170 overdose deaths per year and rising, Maine CANNOT afford to not do something about this public health crisis. I urge you to support LD 1686 the overdose prevention bill. By putting naloxone into the hands of persons at risk, their families and first responders, including police and fire department, we have an opportunity to make a real difference on this issue. Naloxone is safe, effective and easy to administer. Over 18 states have passed similar legislation to date with a bipartisan majority. The net result is to spare parents, spouses and other family members the trauma of losing a loved one."

Together we changed the narrative around drug overdose deaths. Together we can pass this bill. Call your Senator today and urge them to support LD 1686, lets show the Governor that you can't play politics with peoples lives.

Sincerely,
