There will be a POW/MIA Motorcycle Honor Ride, Friday, September 18, 2020. There will be a stop to honor a former POW. The ride will start and end in Augusta.
The plan is to Meet at the Red Barn, 455 Riverside Drive, Augusta, at 12:15 pm with kickstands up at 12:30 pm for a short ride to Honor a former POW. (You can also plan to arrive early and have lunch at the Red Barn)
This is the message I received, they do not want it public or posted on social media:
“Hi Mike, we are having an event this Friday Sept 18th in Augusta at 1 p.m. to honor World War II U.S. Army Veteran and Bataan Death March Survivor (still living) Don Lucero outside his home at 777 Church Hill Road Augusta. https://goo.gl/maps/mVwzUAHhiPWxM7hj6
It is POW/MIA Recognition Day and Don is a Triple POW, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, etc.
I am hoping to have motorcycles lined up in his driveway for him to see with your Flags, etc. The DAV (he is a life member) will be replacing all his old torn flags on his property for him, the Bureau of Veterans' Services will have a WW II Maine Coin and a certificate to be given to him as well as a DAV Life Member certificate and DAV 100th Anniversary Coin (DAV celebrates 100th Anniversary 9/25/2020)
I do have to keep it off social media because of covid and his declining health. Is there a way you can individually or create a group message to your riders to see if they can come please? Thank you! Any other groups you think I should reach out to?”
Thanks
Mike
