Dear Friends of Mainers with Disabilities,

Please contact the governor's office to ask the governor to include funding for SSI marriage equality in her supplemental budget.

You can telephone the governor's office at 207-287-3531

You can also send a message to the governor online at https://www.maine.gov/governor/mills/contact/share-your-opinion

Last year the Maine House and Senate had several votes to pass LD 1666, which would increase the state contribution to SSI payments (first time it's gone up since 1974, even as the larger federal contribution has gone up more than 6-fold since then). The bill would also eliminate the marriage penalty on state contributions to SSI (so two married people on SSI would be able to get their own state share instead of one person losing half their state share).

But LD 1666 hasn't been funded yet.

So please contact the governor's office to ask her to include funding for LD 1666 in her supplemental budget

thank you!
