In Hallowell on April 1 I was pretty sure I had a broad-winged hawk fly by.
But having none show up yet at Bradbury Mountain I wasn't ready to document it.
Your sighting does make me wonder if there are a few "early birds" who don't take the usual migratory route.

April 11 - New Arrivals!
Corundel Lake, Corinna - Red-winged Blackbird
Plymouth Pond - Great Blue Heron, Common Loon

Someone gave me a bird book "The Red Book Birds of America" copyright 1931 and published by Whitman Publishing Company. There are 3 books in this series. The other two are "The Blue Book" and "The Green Book." I find these old books interesting.

I was at Corundel Lake in Corinna about 5 pm. There were 3 pair of Bufflehead. I don't recall seeing a female before. There were many Ring-necked Ducks and hundreds of Tree Swallows on a feeding frenzy. The swallows would swoop down almost touching the ducks on their heads. The ducks quickly went underwater only to pop up again. It was comical to watch.

In addition to others previously seen:
Hairy Woodpecker

I was startled by a pair of Blue-winged Teal which flew up from the water beside the path. I could see the blue patches in their wings as they flew away.

May 2, 10:30 am - I was leaving the area of the Old Dover Road in Dexter with my car and saw an American Bittern on the side of the road. He moved a few feet into a wet area where he "froze" with his bill pointed up. He remained motionless even as I passed with the car. He blended in perfectly with the dried grass and debris.
