Walked Eastern Trail at Scarborough Marsh this morning around 10 am (5/7/14). Not much going on, but did pick up this bird of interest. Bird was about 100 yards north of the foot bridge adjacent to the trail, but flew into the marsh toward Rt. 1 by the time I could get my camera out. The bird was hanging around a stump and box visible in the marsh.

The photos on this flickr page are heavily cropped. The bird had several features that indicated it may be a N. Wheateater, but also seemed a little different than the one posted two days ago. See photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/124466257@N03/ Decided I would send out just in case… Maybe I’m way off…….

Kevin, et al:

Looks good for the Northern Wheatear that was present on the 4th. This sounds like a very similar setup to what happened when I saw it so I would recommend people now check the Gervais Property (or keep checking from the Eastern Trail).

Here is a copy of the directions I previously shared: Gervais Property, accessible from Manson Libby Road by taking Southgate Road off Route 1 in Scarborough. Taking the path from the Manson Libby Road, go south where it splits (rather than west/straight) and the bird was lingering in that field, approximately at 43.570750, -70.365000.

Good birding,
