Cross posting that the Steller’s Sea-Eagle was found shortly after 9:00AM from the Five Islands wharf (43.8238825,-69.70953), today, 1 Jan. I’m not in Georgetown today but can help post any major updates I see elsewhere on this listserv.

Also, here is a blog post I’ve been updating with information on parking/access, and has a summary of sightings from yesterday that may help give you an idea of where to look: https://maineaudubon.org/news/rare-bird-alert-stellers-sea-eagle/

Good luck!

We recently saw the eagle on Mink Island, perching with some bald eagles, but it flew off around 10:30, heading in the southerly direction towards Reid state park. We lost sight of it so no idea where it landed.

Caught sight of it in a tall spruce off Wood Island around 2p. Thanks to a bunch of birders off Harmon's Harbor Rd. It remained in the tree for t
the 30 min I was present. A landowner was kind enough to let us go out on his dock for an improved view.
