Evening All

We heard this one during a hike of the lovely Perham Stream Birding Trail outside Philips, Maine in the Western Mountains on Saturday.

Merlin was not able to identify after many attempts.

Sounds like an abbreviated White-throated Sparrow song but just the three or four notes only.

Anyone able to ID?

Cheers

Thank you all - yes, most strange indeed.

We stood and listened for many minutes and that’s all we heard — the three or four note song.

Cheers

I definitely agree with abbreviated White-throated Sparrow! The tone sounds perfect for it even though the pattern is weird.

I’m writing a Bangor Daily News column that will include mention of the Fork-tailed Flycatcher being seen at Kennebunk Plains. However, like most visitors, I didn’t get a good photo. (I did pick up a couple of ticks, naturally.) Would anyone have a good photo for print, with photo credit, of course. Please reply offline.
