gull with solid black head?

Hi,
Today while driving through the intersection of route 1/52 in Belfast, a gull coasted over me which appeared to have a solid black head. Unfortunately, during a snow squall on route 1 was not a good time to stop for a better look so was not able to evaluate closer. Looked like a Laughing gull, but I am not aware of any winter black headed gulls that maintain a black head. Swung through gull central by McDonalds later but no luck.
