I heard from Ken MacKenzie, Wildlife Biologist with Mass. Division of
Water Supply Protection re: the tagged adult female Ring-billed Gull
seen at Reid State Park yesterday.

The bird was captured 3/4/11 at South Bay Center, Boston, MA, with a
rocket net baited with bread and crackers.
It was subsequently sighted on 04/15/11: in the Costco parking lot,
Candiac, Quebec, Canada, and has now arrived at Reid State Park.
Maybe it's just me, but somehow the Costco parking lot detracts from
the wonder of this bird's travels.

Mike,
It is a herring gull! Parking lots are normal habitat. It probably stopped at Canada Tire and Tim Hortons while in Quebec.
