to Maine birds
I wasn't sure if i was supposed to post my question or if there was a
way to send an email to the group. Sorry if this seems a dumb
question but i am definitely a beginner when it comes to birding.
Does anyone know what different types of foods Gray Catbirds eat? I
have one that frequents my feeders and he seems attracted to the suet
and cranberries in the feed i put out although he may also eat mealie
worms. He's quite friendly and today while i was in the pool he
landed on the corner of the deck near where i was. I wasn't sure if
maybe he wanted something as he flew down as he does when i am filling
feeders. I was going to put out some orange, apple, nectarine,
blackberries and blueberries but wasn't sure if he'd eat this. He
doesn't seem to go for the grape jelly -at least from what i've seen
so far.
Also, does anyone know how long they are usually here for. I've really
enjoyed having him around this summer. As i mentioned, it's a really
friendly bird and he makes an appearance whenever i'm out in the
yard. From what i've read they are often shy birds-more often seen
then heard but this one is far from shy.
