A large gathering of migrating ducks at the north end of Hutchinson Pond. 150-200 as a rough estimate. Scaup, Blue-winged Teal, Ring-necked Duck, Mallard and Likely some others. I’m going to have to comb over my photos to see if there was anyone more exciting in the mix. (Someone with a scope and no kids pulling on their binocular straps might have better luck than I.)
First time to Hutchinson Pond Conservation Area as well. Great spot to go birding. Lots of wetland pockets, mixed hardwoods, and dense successional patches. And lunch on the dock with my six-month old was a real moment of bliss. Love that autumn sun. Thanks to the Kennebunkport Land Trust for maintaining it!
