Hi,
This AM, on the way to work, I made a quick stop at Collins Pond in
Caribou and found 9 species of shorebirds . No too shabby for 1/2
acre of mud in an urban pond...
A midday canoe trip from Frenchville to the St. David end of Madawaska
on the St. John River was productive as well. Though the river forms
the border for northern-most Maine, I tried to list only those seen on
this side of the imaginary line that winds down the river... Migrant
gulls were numerous and a large roosting flock just upstream of the
international bridge in Madawaska included a nice adult Lesser Black-
backed. Two Merlins and a good numbers of migrant Belted Kingfishers
and Great Blue Herons were fun.
No Procellariadae were noted.
