As some of you have already Echoed I think it would be great to have a
Main Street / Steam Train reunion.

I think it would be great to see everyone again.

Some of us have kept in better touch then others.

We have already had a few small get togethers for an afternoon. But
maybe we should plan a weekend event sometime, that way it will make it
worth while for the guys having to travel from far away.

But we will never get it off the ground unless we stop talking about it
and start "Brain Storming" the best way to do this and the most
economical way to do this.

Here are a few questions and ideas I had. What does everyone else
think?

1.) What's the best Location to do this? I was thinking Orlando so that
some guys with families could turn it into a Disney trip for the kids
too. But I am open to going anywhere. I love Vegas.

2.) Would it be just a guy trip? Or bring the family too? I think it
would be great if the guys brought their families too. It would be nice
to see who everyone married and kids. But then it might be to expensive
for some to bring everyone. I don't care either way on that one.

3.) We should plan it at least a year in advance. That way everyone can
make plans and the more people will be to attend if they have more
notice.

Well, those are a few ideas. I just think if we serious about this and
do plan it, it would be cool if everyone would try their best to be
there. I think it could be a fun event.

What does everyone else think? Do you guys have other ideas on this
subject? Or do you think it would be to hard to pull it off in reality?

I think it would be nice to make it a family affair (I really don't
think Ashley would like being left behind). I would love to see
everyone's family. I would need at least a year to get ready for it.
Orlando would be nice since it's easy to get to, and it's where we all
met.

We could hijack the Roy. I still have my Engineer outfit.

I think it would be a great Idea, a family thing definitly. I have
told my wife some of the stories.

Good idea Marc. In the mean time what about a beach house trip for the
fellas. Maybe just a weekend thing so even our friends up north can
fly-in for. I would sugguest a house like we used to do at Hampton's.
However, due to the cost of some folks flying in I sugguest that those
of us who don't have to fly cover the lodging expenses for those that
do. For instance, Verke flies in, but doesn't have to chip in for the
house. Mongo like airplane.

Just an idea: I do have a condo at NSB we can use at a very low cost. I
know its not the same as howling at the moon (literally) from the deck,
but a good substitute. Pretty much open from mid-Aug thru Dec.

If people are bringing their families and come during the slow season,
those of us who still work here can get 50% off the hotels for the out
of towners.

I agree with both Marc and Orca. As for the family trip, my sister,
brother-in-law, and mother all work out at Disney, so I could set up a
bunch of tickets. A guys beach trip should happen sooner, and the
locals cover the cost of the house. Lets do it, summer is upon us.

Ok. This sounds cool. It sounds like for the most part everyone is in
concert for a reunion with the families a year or so from now, but a
guy beach house type thing sooner.

I think Lenox said it right, that we all can help with the expenses
here for those flying in for the beach house trip. It looks like
Hampton once again has generously and graciously stepped up to the
plate and offered his beach condo.

Hampton how much would it cost us for like Thursday night through
Monday? That way guys could come and go as their schedules allow?

And then we could go to Sam's or wherever and get the food and beer.

Now as far as my schedule is concerned July is pretty much out for me.
I am going to Johannesburg South Africa for a few weeks.

But August and September are good for me. October is bad for me because
we have Pirates Week on the Island at the end of the month. It's kind
of like our Candle Light. A lot of prep is involved and I have outdoor
vending responsiblilties for alcohol.

Hey if anyone wants to go this year let me know.

or if that link doesn't work

I was thinking a weekend in August " * Disclaimer Hurricane Permitting
" would be great for the event.

What is everyone elses schedule like?

So everyone else chime in on this with your schedules and lets plan a
weekend.

As far as the trip a year from now with the families involved that's
sounds very cool too. Very cool of Hooper and Buak to help with
discount cost of hotel and ticket prices. I also get the same
advantages still to a certain extent. I can go as far as to provide
ground transportation in Orlando for those flying in from out of town.
We can use the Town Cars or Limousines to get people back and forth to
the airport and around town. We even have a few Vans and a Coach now
too that I can send to up Orlando for that weekend.

But now which months do we get the 50% off at Disney on the Hotels? I
haven't even looked at that stuff in so long. I am sure its not March
and April during spring break. Would it be February or May? And how
much time in advance will they let us book the 50% stuff?

The next thing we need to work out is where we would have all the group
events? You have to admit if everyone shows up that would be quite a
large group and we don't want to all crammed in somewhere making it
tough.

These are some of the ideas I had.

A few years back we had one of my family reunions in Orlando, ( whew
most of time we have them on Cayman) But this one was in Orlando. What
we did was go to a State Park and reserved one of those A - Frames and
had a huge cook out. People went canoeing and went swimming. It was
cool.

But now how about this Typhoon Lagoon? I have heard for a reasonable
price you can rent an A - Frame type thing and you get a group rate
into the water park and we could have a cook out and people could swim
and all. But can you have beer? And if you can do you have to buy it
from Disney or can you bring your own? And same with the food? Do you
have to buy theirs or can you do your own cook out? I am just curious.

And lets not forget Wet -n- Wild does the same type of thing.

Or we could maybe look around and rent a club house for those who might
know of one for any afternoon.

Anyway those are some ideas just thrown out there. And too people are
going to want time to visit the parks. LOL I guess we have time to
brain storm this. What does everyone else think?

Have A Good One

I really can't see Disney allowing a group to bring in outside food and
drinks. The State Park idea could be fun.

Jetty Park at Cocoa Beach has campgrounds. It isn't that expensive.
They are not to keen on bonfires but they sale beer at the campground
store. you can have a charcoal fire not a wood fire for a cookout.
Cookout, beer and beach.

Hey Shelby Waymaster came up with a very good idea for the big reunion
with the families involved a year or so from now.

She said some of her ole Disney friends got together a few years back
with their families and they kind of made a weekend out of it.

It revolved around a trip to Disney for the families but on the
Saturday they all got together at Little Lake Bryan. It didn't cost
that much to rent and Gooding's catered it real reasonable.

I forgot about Little Lake Bryan. The last time I was there they really
fixed that place up.

So that is a very good idea I thought
