I've got a problem and I was hoping someone on the list could
help me.

My (spam) mailbox is broken. If I attempt to export it to a file
or delete all of the messagea (Mail > Discard Spam) the
application chokes with an error:

A structural defect was found in this database (bad object version).
Please contact <sup...@mailsmith.org> for assistance
(application error code: 20474)

If I attempt to rebuild the mailbox, Mailsmith crashes.

I wrote Mailsmith technical support over a week ago but I still
haven't gotten an answer.

So does anyone here know how I could empty my (spam) mailbox? I
usually export my spam to a file in case it contains real mail,
but I'd be happy to dump it all at this point.

My (spam) mailbox now has over 40,000 messages and Mailsmith is
getting really slow.

I should have been a little more patient. ;)

No more than an hour after I posted this, I got a message from
Mailsmith support (Rich Siegel, no less) with the solution:

1) Turn off "spam detection". Once off, you can delete the
(spam) mailbox.

2) Delete the (spam) mailbox.

3) Turn "spam detection" back on. This will automatically create
a new (spam) mailbox.

Everything seems to be working fine now.

Word of warning: If you have any filters attached to the (spam)
mailbox, or have filters that refer to the (spam) mailbox, these
references will be lost. You'll have to reattach any (spam)
filters and edit any filter that transfer to (spam).
