Hi,
I'm trying to be sure I know what happens when one of several
addresses a message is addressed to is bad.
Do any of the addressees get the message?
This happens sometimes when I mis-type, and also occasionally
when I reply-all to a message that happens to include a bad
address in its recipient list.
Say the list of recipient address is something like this:
o...@example.com
t...@example.com
three
fo...@example.com
Now, when I click "Send" I get a Mailsmith error message:
An error occurred while sending the message “[message
subject]” to “[my ISP]”.
A recipient address refers to an unknown local user
(Application error code 23309).
And in my outgoing mail box, the message is NOT marked as sent.
I've tried a few experiments, and it appears that NONE of the
messages get sent. I.e., in the list above,
o...@example.com and
t...@example.com are NOT sent, so it's NOT the case that
Mailsmith processes each recipient address in turn, and stops
if/when it gets a bad address.
My question is really: Can I be sure that none of the recipients
get the message, under all circumstances, if one of the
recipient addresses is bad? And would that apply regardless of
whether the bad address was a "To", "cc", or "bcc" addressee?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
- Bruce
