I’m reaching out to you as a fellow Mailman Grad in Washington DC, to ask you to join me is making a gift for Columbia Giving Day.
We chose to live in the nation's capital because we believe in core values of public health including social mobility, diversity, and inclusion. After our time at Mailman, we came to the city where the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, where Medicare and Medicaid were created, and where life-saving decisions about foreign aid and global health are made.
For many of us, our time at Mailman - our studies, the connections we made, and the experience we gained, is what helped open doors to Washington for us. But not everyone has the opportunity to pursue higher education. Sometimes the people who have experienced the most adversity and could best inform policies to improve social mobility often are not able to be heard.
That's why I hope you will join me in making a gift to the Fund for Public Health Leadership on Giving Day (October 21). 100% of donations to the Fund for Public Health Leadership go to need-based student scholarship aid, and enable us to support a number of diverse and talented students at the Mailman School. Without such financial awards, many of these individuals would not be able to pursue their dream of a public health education. And on Giving Day, our gifts go even further – 4 members of our alumni board have agreed to match everyone’s gifts with an extra $100, with a potential total match of $20,000 in scholarship aid!
If you can make a donation, it will be truly appreciated. You can give at www.givingday.columbia.edu/earlygive
Thank you,
