[squid-users] Strange squid problemm

Hello,

I have Slackware 8.0 Linux machine (Celeron 400, 64M RAM, 128M swap)
with async 115.2k PPP link and Intel EtherExpress pro/100 ethernet with
squid-2.4.STABLE2 running
The problemm is: wheh downloading with squid browser sometimes "freeze"
on files bigger than 30-50Kb (without squid all ok). I put debug_options
ALL,2 in squid conf and found this:

I understand that "Resource temporarily unavailable" and "Broken pipe"
means something is definitely wrong but not shure this is reason of my
problemm because "Resource temporarily unavailable" error after almost
every GET request even when all seem ok. "Broken pipe" happens less
frequently and also has not direct connection to freeze problemm
This is heppens when only one client connected to squid and downoad one
site at given time. This is my config

squid-2.4.stable2 and squid-2.4-200110152300 (same result)
Linux-2.4.10 and Linux-2.4.12-ac3 (same result)
After playing with squid.conf tried default (only add ACL)
No firewall, no ECN
Tried ulimit -HSn 16384 before starting squid
When I start netscape locally (on machine with squid) - the same
problemm, when I browse local site (squid, netscape and apache on same
mchine) I see same errors in cache.log but have not "freeze" problemm
(maybe just not see it)

Fine. This basically tells that Squid has read and processed the whole
request.

This isn't as good. Broken pipe indicates the other end of FD 18 aborted
the connection while Squid was sending data there. Now, this snippet
alone does not tell if it was the client or the server.

Do you mean this isnt error and this is ok? If so why "((11) Resource
temporarily unavailable)". Maybe you can direct me to the point in
documentation about this message?
I saw some discussions in the archive of list about it as about error
message but not found explain or solution to fix it.

Browser "freezes" when downloading url
http://www.dropzone.ru/guestbook.shtml which is Kb text (html). Here I
press escape in browser (that`s why fwdAbort and Connection reset by
peer I think). And I see that before "commHandleWrite: FD 18: write
failure: (32) Broken pipe" was some "clientReadRequest: FD 18: no data
to process ((11) Resource temporarily unavailable)" messages (with same
FD).
Do you have some ideas about "freeze" problemm? (I wouldn't really care
about error messages if they are not related to this problemm, but think
they are)

Tried to repeat this here using Squid-2.4.STABLE2+patches with Netscape
4.78 and it worked just fine.

Only thing I noticed is that sometimes not all of the banners finish
loading, but this is also the case when not using a proxy...

It is an internal debugging message. You are only seeing this because
you have uppered the amount of debugging.

The actual error code is EAGAIN. See "man 2 read" for what it means and
why you are seeing this.

There was a bug related to this message in the Squid-2.5 development
snapshots, causing large delays or stalled uploads. Your problem is
different.

Nothing obvious in that log, and the "Resource teporarily unavailable"
message does only seem to occur on the other requests.

Am I correct in that the page partially loaded? From the logs it seemed
the followig objects was requested from the page:

"Broken pipe" will be seen if you navigate to another page while images
are beeing loaded, or abort the download.

a) Are you using Squid as a proxy, or transparently intercepting HTTP
traffic?

b) What OS are you using?

c) Any special configure options used when building Squid?

d) Any special configurations done in squid.conf?

Squid only proxy (not transparent)

Slackware 8.0 kernel 2.4.12-ac3 (upgraded after trying 2.4.10 - same
problemm)

Not at all (played with is some with no result, then recompiled without
any configure options)

Again played a lot with squid.conf then leaved default only add ACL

No firewall, no ECN options in kernel
First was squid-2.4.stable2 then tried latest snapshot of 2.4
