[MRTG] help me, please...

hi all,
i have been monitoring my cisco router for the past 2 months with
mrtg-2.5.3 on my windowsNT
The problem that i encountered was that the logfiles would reset itsef
randomly.. i thought i should install the whole thing in solaris
to overcome this problem but i am not so good at unix..
i am having problems installing MRTG-2.5.4c in my machine.. is there a
detailed documentation of installing like the one that was given for
windows NT..
can u help me please..
