C:\PERL>perl c:\mrtg-2.5.3\mrtg c:\mrtg-2.5.3\mrtg.cfg
I received the following response:
Can't locate SNMP_Session.pm in @INC at c:\mrtg-2.5.3\mrtg line 71.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at c:\mrtg-2.5.3\mrtg line 71.
The file snmp_ses.pm is in the mrtg-2.5.3 directory.
Can anyone tell me what my problem is?
Thanks,
John Allen

1) You don't own a Perl reference. I recommend the Camel book, but
I'm an O'Reilly snob. I've seen a couple of "Perl for NT" books
that didn't look bad and might be of more use to you. You can
find some reviews here:
http://language.perl.com/critiques/index.html
2) Renaming "snmp_ses.pm" to "SNMP_Session.pm" will probably solve
your problem.
3) I haven't installed MRTG on NT, nor do I plan to, so ignore me
and check:
http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg.html#NT
and
http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/windows_nt_idiot.htm
Good luck. It's well worth the effort once you get it running.

Line 71 is where the first external call of OS='xxxx" appears
in "mrtg". My *GUESS* is that the file "mrtg" was not set to
the proper operating system. Edit "mrtg" and remove the
comment symbol from the front of:
$main::OS='NT'
and comment out the UNIX and VMS lines.
> I'm an O'Reilly snob.
Agreed. I usually don't need a tutorial. What I want are
examples, code I can steal, examples, routine disections,
examples, annotated source, more examples, and some reference
stuff for when I forget the function names.

Maybe. Methinks the confusion of "/" and "\" as directory
symbols might also cause the file to not be found.

I have. Works fine. I prefer using the method I concocted
for Windoze 95 instead. There are some not-so-subtle differences
(especially when setting up the scheduler to run mrtg every
5 minutes), but the Windoze 95 instructions should generally
work for NT. See:
