I don't know about 2.2.6, but in 2.2.5 libc_r not installed by default.
Check ls -l /usr/lib/libc_r*
If no, compile and install libc_r from source
Refer to man pthread
(or upgrade your sysyem, in 2.2.8 libc_r present )
