Hello,
A question: is it possible to configure amavis-new so it sends files to
clamd without using a Unix socket (which most of the time implies a
local clamd daemon) but using the TCP protocol to a clamd running in a
remote machine?

Zimbra has used it for years. However, I had to disable that functionality
when we added IPv6 support because the clamav devs have yet to add ipv6
support for this feature.

with local installed clamd amavisd-new has only to provide a pointer into the filesystem via the unix-socket.

clamd on a remote machine has to get *all data* via network. That will increase network load.
