Count the number of emails sent out by a user.

How can you count the number of emails sent out by a user (in SMTP
authentication)?

In the case of using SMTP authentication I guess I could read the logs
and count the number of connections. But that would not tell me if
they sent out the email to 100 users in one email (in the BCC or
something like that).

There must be a way to set a limit or count this.
